Simple Past Tense Rules and Examples ( Past Indefinite Tense )
Assamese - অতীতকালত অনুষ্ঠিত কোনো ঘটনা বর্ণনা কৰিবৰ বাবে Past Indefinite Tense বা Simple Past Tense ব্যৱহাৰ কৰা হয় ।
অতীত কালের কোন কাজ বোঝাতে বা অতীতের কোন অভ্যাস বোঝাতে, যার ফল বিদ্যমান নেই তাকে Past Indefinite Tense বলে।
Bangla - অতীত কালের কোন কাজ বোঝাতে বা অতীতের কোন অভ্যাস বোঝাতে, যার ফল বিদ্যমান নেই তাকে Past Indefinite Tense বলে।
Hindi - Past IndefiniteTense में बीते हुए समय में किसी क्रिया या घटना के बारे में बताया जाता है |
* Structure : -
Subject + V2 + Object + Other words.
Assamese -
1.মই ভাত খাইছিলো।- I ate rice.
Note : - Past indefinite tense যুক্ত কোন sentence এ যদি main verb না থাকে তাহলে তাত be verb ই main verb হিসেবে ব্যাবহার হবে।
2.মই স্কুললৈ গৈছিলো।- I went to School
3.আপুনি কামটো কৰিছিল- You did the work.
তেওঁ তেওঁৰ বাল্যকাল লণ্ডনত অতিবাহিত কৰিছিল।-He spent his boyhood in London.

1.আমি ভাত খাইয়াছিলাম/খেয়েছিলাম – I ate rice.
2.আমি স্কুলে গিয়েছি/গিয়েছিলাম – I went to school.

বাক্যত প্ৰায়েই অতীতকাল নির্দেশ কৰে এনেকুৱা ধৰণৰ কোনো Adverb of time থাকে ।
One of the commonest adverbials used in the Past Indefinite Tense is ' ago ' . Ago means " a date or period of time measured back from the present . "
Examples : -
1.তেওঁ এক মিনিট আগতে আহিছিল। - He came a minute ago .
2.মই বাতৰিটো আধা - ঘণ্টা আগতে শুনিছিলো। - I heard the news half - an - hour ago .
3. মই তেওঁক দুবছৰ আগতে লগ পাইছিলো। -I met him two years ago .
( অতীত কালত নিয়মিত অভ্যাস বুজাবলৈ এই Tense ব্যৱহাৰ হয় ) উদাহৰণ স্বৰূপে------
1.তেওঁ কঠোৰ অধ্যয়ন কৰিছিল - He studied hard তেওঁ কঠোৰ অধ্যয়ন কৰিছিল - (= He used to study hard)
It is used to express a polite form of address . ( কাৰোবাৰ প্ৰতি নম্রতা প্ৰকাশ কৰিবলৈ নাইবা অনুৰোধ কৰোঁতে ই ব্যৱহাৰ হয় । )
Examples: -
1.আপুনি অনুগ্ৰহ কৰি মোক আপোনাৰ অভিধান ধাৰদিব পাৰিবনে ।- Could you please lend me your dictionary ?
2. আপুনি অনুগ্ৰহ কৰি মোক সময়টো ক'ব নেকি।-Would you please tell me the time ?
Note : - It is used with ' as if , ' as though ' , ' I wish ' and similar expressions to express an unreal past , an improbable wish or a mere supposition ( ' as if ' , ' as though ' , ' I wish '
প্রভৃতি ধৰণৰ শব্দবোৰ অসত্য অতীত সম্বন্ধীয় নাইবা সম্ভাৱনাহীন ইচ্ছা বা অনুমান অথবা কল্পনা বুজাবলৈ এই Tense ব্যৱহাৰ কৰা হয় । )
যেনে
1.মই প্ৰধানমন্ত্ৰী হ'লে হেঁতেন। - I wish I were the Prime Minister .
2. যদি মোৰ ওচৰত এটা চৰাইৰ পাখি থাকিলে হেঁতেন। - wish I had the wings of a bird .
3.মই আপোনাৰ ঠিকনা টো জানিলে হেঁতেন। - I wish I knew your address .
Note : - মনত ৰাখিবা — এই আটাইবোৰ ক্ষেত্ৰতেই ' be ' verb- ৰ past tense- plural form বা ৰূপ ব্যৱহাৰ হ’ব । যেনে— I were ; He were ইত্যাদি ।
